How it all started
I started to knit and crochet
when I was a child, my grandmother taught me to knit and my great auntie taught me how to crochet. We used to make little clothes for my Barbies, which I thought was so much fun!
I didn’t do much after that until my 20s, when I made this crazy cardigan that had very colorful pineapples, which meant that I had so many ends and made a big mess, so I had to sew a lining on the inside. I wore this cardigan for a long time, and I wish I still had it. That was my very first (and last) attempt for quite a while.
Fast forward 2015, my son had a fundraiser at school and I bid on this basket that was full of needles and yarn, I obviously won it and this is where my new creative journey started.
I started to knit at first, but crochet is so much more forgiving than knitting especially if you make a mistake. So I started to watch a whole bunch of crochet YouTube videos and that’s how I really got started!
I started with scarves and beanies but then I made my first cardigan (well second really) and I was hooked!
My friends loved everything I made and kept telling me I should make items to sell but it takes so long to create, not to mention the cost of materials so I decided to make patterns instead.
Six months later, after taking many online courses, I started my Etsy shop and published my very first pattern. My goal was to have 100 sales by Christmas but instead I reached 200!
I am very excited to be where I’m at today. I love the design challenge, figuring out stitches and rows, which is not always easy (and a lot of frogging) but I always get there at the end.
